The dogs that pass the CGC or TDI Tests, and the cats that pass their temperament test have excellent obedience skills. However, we have found, over time, that these are only HALF of the skills that they need to be successful visitors at a nursing home or hospital. These poor pets do not have a clue as to what they are expected to do when they arrive at this huge building. Everything, smells, sights and sounds are so different from their experience that they think they have slipped through Alice's looking glass. Take a moment to think of all the things in a nursing home that your pet has probably never experienced before such as wheelchairs, stretchers and walkers. |
Do you really want your pets' first visit to be such a scary, horrible experience? Of course not. That is why your pet needs more:
- To be acclimated and desensitized to all the strange physical equipment they will encounter.
- To learn to properly and politely interact with the residents and patients
Our 1, 2, 3 Go Dog or our 1, 2, 3 Go Cat Classes prepare your pet so he knows where he is and why. This way your pets' first experience will be a fun one and they will want to go again.
If your Dog does not pass his/her CGC/TDI test, we recommend that you attend an obedience class with your dog first. The obedience is necessary for the dog to learn the desensitization and socialization.
