Mike Grassel & Phoebe – A Chance to Give Back
Mike and his sweet Poodle/Bichon mix, Phoebe joined Pets in 2012. Mike’s inspiration for becoming involved stemmed from the love, patience and acceptance he received from Phoebe as he dealt with the challenges sustained from a traumatic brain injury a number of years ago. Mike believes he is blessed to have his health and understands the difficulties facing those with memory and cognitive challenges. Mike and Phoebe were regular visitors at Curative Adult Day Services in Wauwatosa and they also visit the memory care unit at Congregational Home. Recently, Mike and Phoebe stated a Read-to-Rover program at Longfellow school where his daughter is a teacher. They are also regular members of Waggin’ Tails, our Therapy Peformance Troupe.
“Through sustaining a brain injury in a car accident, I try to have empathy towards other people going through rehab or who have cognitive challenges. I feel blessed to have my health and want to share mine and Phoebe’s gifts with others.”

We want to thank all our teams for their spirit of volunteerism, for freely giving of themselves and for sharing their dogs with others.
